Overview And Applications Of Power Regulators

A power regulator is a regulating unit that uses a multi-functional digital trigger control circuit board to achieve on-off control of thyristors (also known as silicon controlled rectifiers), and is used to adjust the voltage, current and power applied to the load. Also known as thyristor power regulator, thyristor adjuster, thyristor voltage regulator, thyristor adjuster, thyristor voltage regulator, power voltage regulator, power controller, SCR power regulator, etc. The latest power regulator adopts advanced power electronics technology, microprocessor technology and modern control theory technology to achieve the integration of multiple functions:

1. It has real-time display functions for voltage, current, output power, frequency, heat sink temperature, etc.
2. It provides functions such as phase loss protection, under-voltage protection, overcurrent protection, over-temperature protection, fan automatic control, and digital communication.
3. It integrates multiple control methods such as open-loop control, constant current (I, I2 feedback), constant voltage (U, U2 feedback), constant power (P feedback), phase shift control, fixed-period cycle control, variable-period cycle control, constant voltage + cycle mode, constant current + cycle mode, and constant power + cycle mode.

The power regulator is mainly used to adjust the heating power of various electric heating devices to achieve heating rate and constant temperature control. It can be adjusted either manually or in combination with electric regulating instruments, intelligent regulating instruments, PLCS and computer control systems to achieve constant or programmed control of the heating temperature. The power regulator has many advantages such as high heating efficiency, no mechanical noise or wear, fast response speed, small size and light weight.

Classification of power regulators

Power regulators are generally classified into single-phase power regulators, two-phase power regulators and three-phase power regulators.

Application of power regulator

Single-phase power regulators are used in conjunction with intelligent PID regulators or PLCS with 0-5V and 4-20mA, mainly for heating control in industrial electric furnaces. The load types can be single-phase resistive load, single-phase inductive load and single-phase transformer load.

The two-phase power regulator is used in conjunction with an intelligent PID regulator or PLC with 0-5V and 4-20mA, mainly for heating control in industrial electric furnaces. Its load type can be a three-phase resistive load, a star load with no center grounded, or a delta load.

The three-phase power regulator is used in conjunction with an intelligent PID regulator or PLC with 0-5V and 4-20mA. It is mainly used for heating control of industrial electric furnaces and energy-saving operation control of soft start for large fans and pumps. The load type can be three-phase resistive load, three-phase inductive load and three-phase transformer load. Three-phase loads can be center-grounded loads, center-ungrounded loads, internal delta loads and external delta loads.
